Intimacy: A Human Condition explores seduction through traditional tropes of masculinity and femininity. It studies the physical and emotional connections I share and lack with my male subjects. The juxtaposition of black and white and color bridges the impulses between the physical and emotional intimacy conveyed with both men. The camera is used as a tool to attract the viewer to the male and female power dynamic as well as the possessiveness and submissiveness that lay beneath each image’s surface. In the black and white images the camera acts as a predator, invading the space and personal moments depicted. In the color images, myself and my male subject play with the camera, challenging its violence. Through these visual means, both physical and emotional intimacy are constructed and complement each other.
